AFCEA offers a wide range of scholarships through its Educational Foundation, supporting students in STEM fields, cyber, intelligence, and military‑related studies. Their offerings include national AFCEA scholarships, corporate‑sponsored awards, chapter‑specific scholarships, and ROTC scholarships. These programs fund undergraduate, graduate, and teacher‑focused STEM education, with awards typically ranging from $1,500 to $5,000+ depending on the scholarship.

AFCEA Belvoir Chapter Scholarships – 2026 Application Season

AFCEA Belvoir is now accepting applications for our 2026 STEM scholarships supporting students in the greater Washington, D.C. metropolitan area who are pursuing STEM degrees tied to public service and national security. Applications are open through May 1, 2026.​

Two Scholarship Pathways
1. Kevin Carroll Scholarship for Excellence:

The Kevin Carroll Scholarship for Excellence is AFCEA Belvoir’s most prestigious annual scholarship, honoring a visionary leader who embody service, humility, innovation, and an unwavering commitment to the American warfighter and AFCEA community.​
  • Award amount: Single award
  • Who it’s for:
    • Rising college juniors or rising undergraduate seniors
    • Enrolled full-time in a STEM major (e.g., cybersecurity, computer science, engineering, IT, mathematics, data science) at an accredited U.S. college or university
    • Demonstrated academic excellence, leadership, community impact, and a clear interest in using their STEM career to support national security or public service​

 

Key eligibility requirements:

  • AFCEA Belvoir Chapter member (student membership accepted)
  • Resident of the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, including:
  • U.S. citizen
  • Documented community service, leadership, or extracurricular involvement

2026 deadline:

  • May 1, 2026 – 11:59 PM EDT (early submission strongly encouraged)

 
2. AFCEA Belvoir Chapter STEM Scholarships:

The AFCEA Belvoir Chapter STEM Scholarships are designed to grow the pipeline of STEM talent supporting defense and national security across the region. Multiple awards are offered each year.

  • Award amount: Multiple awards
  • Who it’s for:
    • High school seniors and undergraduate students at any class level
    • Pursuing a bachelor’s degree in a STEM-related field
    • Demonstrated community service, leadership, and interest in careers that support public service or national security

Key eligibility requirements:

  • AFCEA Belvoir Chapter member (student membership accepted)
  • Resident of the Washington, D.C. metropolitan area, as listed above
  • U.S. citizen
  • Enrolled or planning to enroll in a STEM-related field of study

Membership Requirement

All applicants must be AFCEA Belvoir Chapter members at the time of application. Student memberships are available at reduced rates.​​

When joining AFCEA, please select Belvoir Chapter as your home chapter.

 

Selection Criteria

Across both scholarship pathways, the AFCEA Belvoir Scholarship Committee looks for:​

  • Strong academic performance, especially in STEM coursework
  • Demonstrated leadership and community involvement
  • Clear interest in careers that support national security, defense, or public service
  • For the Kevin Carroll Scholarship: strong alignment with Kevin Carroll’s legacy of service, leadership, mentorship, and dedication to the greater good

 

Timeline – 2026 Scholarship Season

  • Applications open: March 2026
  • Application deadline: May 1, 2026 – 11:59 PM EDT
  • Selection and notification:
    • Scholarship recipients announced at the AFCEA Belvoir Chapter Annual Scholarship Luncheon (June 2026)
    • All applicants notified of decisions via email​
